Sir Francis Drake was born in 1541. He lived in Tavistock as a kid his father was a farmer but was a sailor before he had kids. In 1549 King Edward VI said the bible should be written in English in stead of Latin. The Catholics did not like that and violence broke out so him and his family family moved to Chatham because his family lost all their land. When he was 18 he started serving in ship trading to the bay in Biscay. He went on slaving voyages in Africa where he was made captain of my ship the Judith. When I was captain of the Judith he went on an expedition against the Spanish in the West Indies and Central America most of my ships were sunk but he escaped. in December of 1577, he set off on my voyage around the world in the Golden Hind. He had 5 stout ships, was well armed, And a crew of 150 men. He reached Brazil in April 1578. On May 21 he made it to the Straights of Magelin at the South tip of South America. He sailed up the coastof Chile and Peru. He went more north up to Canada then sailed across the Pacific Ocean and then to the Cape of Good Hope. Then he crossed throughh the equater in July into Plymoth Harbor in September 1580. He returned with one ship and 58 men back to England with a ship full of spices, precious metals, jewels, silks, fine porcelains, and irreplaceable maps. He was the first Englishman to sail the Pacific, Indian, and South Atlantic Oceans. In 1585, war broke out with Spain. He was given a fleet. England ended up winning the war. In 1596 he went to the West Indies and Central America where he got dysentery. On January 27, 1596 He asked a crew member to help him in his armour, the next day he was found dead.
